Within the framework of ADAPT's internal research project on Neural MT, aimed at assessing the actual potential of this technology and its eventual application in the company, last Friday we attended a splendid session built upon the use of MTradumàtica, an open web platform for training and using machine translation systems.
It's spring time, and the last two weeks have in close succession seen tekom's Spring Conference, held in Vienna this year, and the annual GALA Conference, for which Munich had been chosen as venue. In both it became obvious what the industry at large is preoccupied with: talks about Neural Machine Translation (NMT) and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the language industry, both in translation and content creation, were pretty much everywhere during both events.
Neural Machine Translation seems to be the talk of the town pretty much everywhere throughout our industry, and there is no doubt that this technology has changed the way how machine translation is perceived by a wider audience. Publicly available web MT services have improved through these technological advances, and the arrival of Cologne-based DeepL which is based on the vast Linguee database has created quite some stir also outside language industry circles, prompting articles even in mainstream newspapers and magazines.
The first ADAPT Company Conference took place in Bonn from February 8-10, 2019. The teams from ADAPT’s offices in Bonn, Barcelona & Stockholm met at the headquarters for training sessions, the exchange of ideas & experiences and – last but not least – celebrations.
The 70th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo was held from July 27-August 2 in Chicago. It is the largest global scientific conference and tradeshow in the field of laboratory medicine and we have been visiting the show frequently since 2005.
One year ago, in May 2017, we switched to Plunet Business Manager, a translation management software that supports us in organizing our project work.
Two new Business Development Managers will represent the company in Italy. Dilva Bovetti and Marco Giardina take charge of market development and sales for ADAPT Localization in Italy and the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Both of them have been working for ADAPT for several years and are translators with a strong focus on medical technology and life sciences.
2017 marked our 14th consecutive time attending MEDICA in Düsseldorf as part of the joint stand “Forum MedTech Pharma”.
Park Annual is a yearly Life Science event, taking place every autumn in Gothenburg, Sweden. For the 12th year in a row, entrepreneurs, scientists, innovators, companies and investors gathered at Sahlgrenska Science Park to share inspiring ideas, outstanding expertise and business opportunities. ADAPT was there, of course.
We've returned from the 69th Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in San Diego. Visiting AACC has become a long standing tradition for ADAPT as we've been attending the expo since 2005. We have a large client base within the laboratory medicine segment and AACC is a perfect opportunity to meet these existing clients and connect with new prospects.
